Buenos Aires, time to learn some Spanish

As soon as we arrived back, our weekend before felt like a dream.

So our plan for Buenos Aires was to learn some Spanish as we were bored of our basic attempts at speaking, so we booked two weeks of four hour classes with our maestro, Maxi.

Our first lesson was on the day we landed, so after a strong coffee we went for our first class. And we loved our lessons, the four hours absolutely flew by and we finally felt like we were making some progress.

Whoever says that Spanish is an easy language to learn is a liar! The grammar is so different with four different past tenses, different words for 'for', completely different sentence structures etc etc, but it felt great to be able to understand more and more each day.

To help with our Spanish we stayed with a host couple for a week, where we had some very cute pets

With all the Spanish lessons and homework, where was the time to see Buenos Aires? Well we fitted some things in...

Tango in the street

We went to see La Bomba de Tiempo - an amazing percussion band which made us feel like we were back in Brazil for Carnival

We walked around loads of the city's different Barrios, like La Boca

Boca Juniors football stadium

We walked around San Telmo with Maxi to see some of the city's lovely architecture

The narrowest/smallest house in BA

We had lots of nights out with our great new friends

And we went to a milonga bar where we tried folklore dancing

Sarah being taught how to dance folklore - "arms up, chin up, opposite me, flap your skirt, circle me..."

Overall we loved BA and would definitely love to live there for a bit in the future. We would have stayed longer but we had to move on to make sure we could get to Machu Pichu in time for our Inca trek. So next stop, Cordoba and Salta...
